BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Training/Opera

A native of Nice, France, international Soprano Batrice Beer has been described as a true Puccini soprano in a class of her own and one of the best Toscas around. Batrice first attained a Bachelors degree Summa Cum Laude in Comparative Literature from Louisiana State University. She then decided to pursue her passion for singing and earned a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the Manhattan School of Music in New York City. Additional training includes vocal seminars in Luino, Italy and Nice, France; Apprenticeships with Opera North (NH) and Natchez Opera (MS). She has studied extensively with such teachers as Rita Patan, Daniel Ferro (the Juilliard School) and currently Robert McFarland.

A former mezzo-soprano, Ms. Beer has performed among others the roles of Nicklausse, Stphano, Prince Orlovsky, Suzuki, and Lola. Since her vocal switch to full lirico-spinto soprano, her repertoire includes Tosca, Manon Lescaut, Margherita, Adriana Lecouvreur, Amelia, Magda, Giorgetta, Violetta Valry, Mim, Desdemona, and the three Tales of Hoffmann heroines. Of late, she has performed the roles of Mim with Amici Opera (Philadelphia, PA) and Tosca in concert with The Atlantic Coast Opera Festival. She made her Atlantic Coast Opera Festival Mainstage debut this past summer in the role of Mim (La Bohme).

Ms. Beer has been a finalist in competitions held by the Liederkranz Foundation, Classical Productions Ltd. at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Queens Opera, and Naomi Music Productions.

CONCERT

Of late, Ms. Beer is taking time away from her demanding performing schedule to introduce to the world the magnificent music of her father. Ms. Beer has crafted a very unique concert program featuring his music, which she has been performing to critical acclaim internationally, among others in France, Germany, and in the United States, in Washington, D.C., New York City to name but a few.

CONCERT PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

This is a carefully crafted, multi-media program, which combines music and narration. Ms. Beer performs selected arias from her fathers operas to skilled piano accompaniment. A narrator recounts fascinating biographical anecdotes drawn from the life of Dr. Beer, introduces each piece and expounds on the creative process. A slide show comes to add a third dimension to the performance.

Recently, Ms. Beer has been combining talents with opera celebrity Robert McFarland in duo concerts. For more information or to book a performance, please contact Mr. McFarland, Ms. Beer's Personal Representative at robemcf@ptd.net
